Aaron Kelly was never on American Idol but did grow up on the edge of the Chicago megalopolis, falling under the influence of John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, and empathy; his songs are carefully crafted and made to last. He’s been featured by American Songwriter Magazine and released Barefoot and Bottomed Out, his first solo album, in 2016; after zig-zagging across the country for years with Overman  King up for lost time, Aaron Kelly Band released their debut LP, Songs Still Sing, in 2022 and an adjacent 6-song EP, Letting the Animals Out, on 1/3/24.

FEATURING:  ANDREW DUNCANSON

From 2003 to 2022, Andrew Duncanson released albums with his band, Kilborn Alley Blues Band, the recipient of three Blues Music Award nominations, followed by releases with Dig3 in 2022 and 2023. His singing has drawn comparisons to legendary artists like Howlin’ Wolf, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Junior Wells, and Van Morrison. Kilborn Alley alone has played in thirty-seven states, eight not-USA nations, one international territory, and out to sea. Andrew currently plays with Kilborn Alley, Dig3, duets and band shows with Gerry Hundt, as Andy Duncanson and his Acoustic Friends, and with the new Andrew Duncanson and the Take a Ride Band to support the California Trap album. California Trap (2025) is Duncanson’s first solo album, and he’s paired here with co-producer Michael Peloquin, who also contributes his talents as a horn arranger, songwriter, and harmonica player. Since recording California Trap Andy has done shows with Kid Andersen and the Greaseland All Stars in Switzerland and California.

Piedmont Finger-Picking infused Blues, Folk, Roots, Rock and Originals. When done well, finger-picking a guitar looks so easy anybody could do it. But the task of convincing several digits to make music while moving simultaneously in different, yet coordinated directions, when it appears effortless, takes a good deal of concentration and practice.

David Berchtold, an acoustic guitarist for more than 40 years, makes the process seem like spreading butter on hot bread as he picks the six-string with melody and rhythm while singing.

Having written over an hour’s worth of innovative original songs, the Illinois native also chimes in with tunes from the cream of the fingerpicking crowd, including Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, Rev. Gary Davis, Leo Kottke, John Fahey and others. He’s made three visits to the Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp, founded and run by another of the greats, Jorma Kaukonen, performing at the student concerts and once playing along with Jorma.

Also expect a range of rock and folk standards including music from The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Doobie Brothers, Bob Dylan, JJ Cale, Grateful Dead and others to pop into the varied song list of this talented performer.
