FEATURING: LANEY JONES & THE SPIRITS (Nashville, TN)
Amazingly, Laney Jones’ music career started as something of an accident. She picked up the guitar and began writing songs during college as a respite from the demanding academic curriculum working on an international business degree. Her aptitude as a singer and songwriter was instant. She soon found herself immersed in the roots scene as a rising young talent. Laney has shared stages with bands in the last year like Wood Brothers, Blitzen Trapper, and Allison Russell.
Laney Jones has received accolades from No Depression and L.A. Record, as well as the legendary Alison Krauss. As an unsigned artist, she’s managed to grace the stage at New York’s Lincoln Center and DC’s Kennedy Center for the Arts, feature on PBS’s Great Performances series, earn corporate sponsorships and licensing deals, and receive nationwide college radio spins for her original songs. Currently, her voice can be heard on soundtracks of films and TV from the likes of Disney, Netflix, Dreamworks, Google, Toyota, and Red Bull. Laney’s also won many prestigious songwriting and new artist competitions, most notably the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

FEATURING: FRESH HOPS (Northwest Indiana)
Fresh Hops is a touring 5 piece Multi-Genre bending, Rock band from Northwest Indiana. The band formed in March 2008 as a musical improvisational outlet among friends. Now Fresh Hops has evolved into a captivating, high energy live act.
The group has seen numerous line ups and instrument inclusion which has led to an eclectic mix of sounds and atmospheres. As writers and performers Fresh Hops constantly blurs the lines between genres and style, often during the course of a single song.
That "anything goes" attitude has translated to a stage show that remains fresh and fun from show to show. The realization that jazz, classic soul, bluegrass, classical, metal and progressive jam rock can all shake hands and play nice has guided them to create remarkable tunes from an ever-expanding palette.

FEATURING: GREG KLYMA (Buffalo, NY)
I am an American songwriter, leaning hard on the influences of old school country and rock music. Some of my faves include Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Bon Scott-era AC/DC, and Willie Nelson. If lyrics and melody take center stage in your musical world, welcome home!
For close to 30 years now, I've made my living playing music. Early on, that meant relentless touring. I now do a lot of live streaming on Twitch. I started learning guitar when I was 13 and I'm still learning. I taught myself mandolin, tenor banjo, and piano. And, it seems like I've always known how to play a little harmonica.
As a writer and storyteller, I love connecting with my listeners and invite you to join the journey.

FEATURING: THE DEEP HOLLOW (Springfield, IL)
Since the inception of this harmony-driven, original music acoustic trio of Micah Walk, Elizabeth Eckert and Dave Littrell, the attraction between audience and act was obvious and powerful. Also members of other local groups, these three created a world together that brought success not found in other combinations. A possible explanation of the TDH phenomenon might be the similar individual ideals of success and stage presence combined with separate identities and backgrounds in music which forged one of those inexplicable, unexplainable spots in time that produced a likeable, marketable, real music presence.
Beginning with a win in the American Songwriter magazine songwriting contest in 2014 to a well-produced Kickstarter-launched album in 2015 that reached number three on the Folk DJ charts in early 2016, the terrific threesome continues to move forward into the realm of getting there. This summer and into the fall, The Deep Hollow hit a roll with a string of regional shows that exposed the group to audiences outside the local comfort zone, setting the stage for a bigger and better next year. -Tom Irwin, Illinois Times

FEATURING: BUBBLES BROWN DUO (Chicago, IL)
Bubbles Brown is a two-piece early blues outfit from Chicago, IL. Bubbles (Guitar, Vocals) and Washboard Ben (Percussion, Vocals) cut their teeth on the blues deep in the subways of Chicago, busking for change and the occasional dollar. Using only a guitar, washboard, sock cymbal, assorted percussion and a suitcase bass drum -the duo and their lean, archaic setup evoke the home-spun, kitchen-sink aesthetic of rural, pre-war blues and country, while blending into it an aggressive and modern electricity to create a sound at-once both nostalgic and distinctly progressive. The Bubbles Brown sound defies expectations, and their rich and reverent brand of the blues, country and jazz of the 20s and 30s greatly exceeds the sum of its parts, transforming stages of any size into roadside juke joints and skeptics into believers.

FEATURING: THEM COULEE BOYS with Special Guest, EDWARD DAVID ANDERSON
Eau Claire, WI - The story is true. Soren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee Boys—met as counselors at a bible camp in northern Wisconsin in 2011. Having both grown up amidst a stretch of glacial melt-carved river valleys in the upper Midwest, otherwise known by French fur trappers as coulees, they became fast friends. Camp counselors actually coined the name “them coulee boys” as a way to refer to the constant companions, more often than not with instruments in hand. Soren’s little brother Jens joined the crew on mandolin at camp in 2012, and since, both Neil Krause on bass and Staš Hable on drums have helped to grow the band into the rollicking outfit it is today.
2021 marks the release of their fourth record, Namesake, a ten-song collection that spans from pure and genuine ballads to a leaping, countrified take on rock and roll. Singles from the recording have premiered via The Bluegrass Situation, Ditty TV, and Live for Live. Twangville readers dubbed the record “Best New Release”.
Namesake was recorded at The Hive in the band’s hometown of Eau Claire, WI. The album was produced by Grammy-winner Brian Joseph who has worked with the likes of Paul Simon, Sufjan Stevens, Ani Difranco, and The Indigo Girls, and earned his Grammy producing and engineering Bon Iver’s Bon Iver. Taking inspiration from the intimate nature of The Hive after a long period of quarantine, Namesake feels familial—like old friends with no need for small talk. There are moments of power and punch, balanced with intimacy only felt between the ones we love.
Namesake finds Them Coulee Boys following a new trajectory, combining their signature take on folk-grass and Americana with comfort on electric instruments and playing rock and roll. The record lives and breathes. It’s both intimate and bombastic. It’s the sweet aunt who makes delicious pies and the wiley uncle who’s not afraid to hit a bit of the hooch. At the bottom is the acceptance that comes with family and old friends; none of us are perfect, but there’s enough love out there to make up for it.

FEATURING: THE MATCHSELLERS (Kansas City, KS)
Over the course of the last decade, the Matchsellers have proven themselves to be one of the most creative and note-worthy Bluegrass groups to emerge from the Midwest. On their ambitious new record The Wishful Thinker's Hall of Fame (due out Oct 28, 2022), the group masterfully shows that “art for art's sake” has a place in the folk multiverse.
The core musical partnership of Andrew Morris (Guitar/Vocals) and Julie Bates (Fiddle/Vocals) began when the two met in Leipzig, Germany. They were two American Midwesterners on Fulbright Scholarships working as Cultural Ambassadors to Germany. Now, nearly 10 years later, they are true folk trailblazers creating entire universes with their music.
Morris and Bates are joined on Mandolin by Brian McCarty (Greg Blake Band, the Bluegrass Missourians) and on Bass by Brandon Day (Kansas City Jazz Bassist). With the addition of McCarty and Day the Matchsellers' newest iteration is as free, joyful and powerful as ever. The band is at the apex of its songwriting and musicianship.
Willi Carlisle is a fan of The Matchsellers' newest line-up. He proclaims, “Morris' plaintive bawl and humor accentuates some of the best flatpicking in the biz (and it gets experimental here, too) while Bates gets a lot of good work done on the fiddle and folksy, mellow vocals... With vaudeville and virtuosity, this new offering pipes along with genre-hopping energy."
The Matchsellers are a rare breed that is truly in it for the sake of the art. In a recent interview frontman Andrew Morris explained, “Sometimes, I feel like music is a kind of disease. It infects you and you can’t get rid of it. I really wish that something else had taken over me... But I don’t really have a choice. You got to eat what the lunch lady gives you.”

FEATURING: TAYLOR STEELE & THE LOVE PREACHERS (Effingham, IL)
Taylor Steele and the Love Preachers are a five piece Americana band with a powerful woman singer/songwriter as its driving force. Based out of Effingham, IL, they perform a powerful blend of roots rock with soul, country, blues, funk, and jam influences. The group performs original music written by Taylor Steele, 22 year old rhythm guitarist and vocalist, along with their interpretations of music by their favorite artists.
The Love Preachers have a way of sneaking up on you. The music is soulful, but sublime. The songs are smart and original, with roots that take you through rock and roll back to the blues of the old south. The vocal quality of Taylor Steele is reminiscent of great legendary singers like Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples but also modern stars like Susan Tedeschi and Gillian Welch. Stemming from these influences, she has immense control of her voice as she belts out notes and improvises, all while finding a beautiful balance between vibrato, tone, and projection. Just when you think you have it figured out, the Love Preachers start preaching, Taylor’s voice starts soaring, and they take you for the ride you won't soon forget.

FEATURING: KELLY STEWARD & THE RESTLESS KIND (Rockford, IL)
Kelly Steward is a Midwestern American singer, songwriter and recording artist hailing from Rockford, IL. Her haunting indie flavored neo-traditional country meditations are a favorite in this area of the country, a grass-roots musical movement from the state that brought you Wilco. After a few storied years in Los Angeles, Kelly moved back to the Midwest to record her EP "Long Long Road" with producer and fellow musician Miles Nielsen. Traveling and playing with Miles' band for a couple years, Kelly broke off to form her own band The Restless Kind with Greg Whitson (guitar), Andy Scarpaci (bass), Jim Westin (keys) and Jesse Carmona (drums). In 2012 she released an intimate EP titled "Out From Within" . 2019 marks her full length album debut "Tales and Tributes of the Deserving and Not So" produced by Kelly and her fellow band-mate Greg Whitson. The vibe of the album is reminiscent of mid 70's female singer-songwriters like Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez and Linda Ronstadt with a Laurel Canyon via Midwest Americana feel. You can purchase the album now via their website or most digital music platforms.

FEATURING: EMILY THE BAND (Peoria, IL)
Emily the Band is a three-piece queer girl group based in Peoria, Illinois. Emily Antonacci, Camryn Proctor, and Abbey Haste began to share their indie alt-pop anthems with audiences in the Peoria area in April 2021. Since then, they have expanded their reach to Champaign-Urbana, Bloomington-Normal, Iowa City, and Nashville. Their highly-anticipated, independently-produced debut album, the heartbreak album (2022), has been described as a "hooky pop-gem" (Jon Norton, WGLT).
The trio has been privileged to share stages with some of their favorite acts, including The Accidentals, Good Morning Bedlam, Sarah & The Underground, and more. Their live performances strengthen with each show as they tour the album. With hopes to tour nationally and create more music, emily the band does not show any sign of slowing down.

FEATURING: GRÁINNE DUFFY (Castleblayney, Ireland)
Blowing people away with charm, depth and voice
During 2007 Grainne Duffy embarked on her solo career. The same year she released her remarkable debut album “Out of the Dark” – proof of talent that was rising at an impressive rate. The big success of the album led Duffy to play 3 days on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival in UK (2008). The same year she performed support to major acts including Robben Ford and The Yardbirds. In 2009 BBC approached Duffy to record a track for a TV promotion campaign in George Martin’s Art Studio in London. Later in that year she appeared on the very popular Irish TV show “Other Voices” and receives huge admiration for her performance. This was followed up with her becoming an opening act to artists such as Little Feet and Paul Brady. 2010 marked her participation at leading blues festivals in Ireland such as Warrenpoint Blues Festival headlined by Van Morrison.
In April 2017 Duffy released the single “Where I Belong” produced by Justin Stanley. The official video supporting the single becomes “choice of the week” of Vents Magazine, UK and Ditty TV in USA. During September of the same year, Duffy released her long waited 3rd studio album with the same name – “Where I Belong”. The songs are composed by Duffy in collaboration with Paul Sherry and Justin Stanley. Her finely crafted lyrics are on full display on this release. The album achieves rave reviews in the specialized press Blues News Norway, Blues News Germany, Blues Matter UK and by many radio presenters in UK, including Bob Harris and Paul Jones from BBC. Duffy played a live session for the very popular Harris’s TV show “Under The Apple Tree” and conducts numerous interviews and live sessions for BBC broadcasts in London, Liverpool, Bristol, Scotland and Ulster. The album is officially released at a concert in “Nells Jazz & Blues Club”, London, with high praise reviews by “Blues in Britain” and “Get Ready To Rock”.
In the winter of 2018 Grainne Duffy performed a supports tour for Paul Carrack (Mike & The Mechanics) during his UK tour. Her performances enjoy wondrous success. “Midlands Rock Magazines” reviews her set in Birmingham and quotes: “A very talented individual who is trying to forge her way in the though musical world”; while Liverpool Acoustic does not hide the huge admiration exclaiming “that Ireland’s Grainne Duffy could come into the lives of the Liverpool audience and simply blow them away with her charm, depth and voice”.(Birmingham Review). In April 2018 Duffy recorded a live session for Keep it Country for Sky TV.
